Shaping STEM EdTech for your context

Tuesday 7 September 2021 7-8pm AEST

Chris Buswell

This session will address methods of using innovative Education Technology (Edtech) to improve STEM learning for your context. It will include discussions around the pedagogical frameworks and practical application in the use of:

  • Virtual Reality (VR) and AR (Augmented Reality) in education to promote deeper learning and engagement and discuss the practicalities and policies around use in schools. It will include a demonstration of the ChemCave VR Chemistry resource co-developed in partnership with the University of the Sunshine Coast.
  • Arduino prototyping for lean start-ups including the use of the design thinking framework to scaffold creative and critical thinking, and entrepreneurial skills.
  • Image Analysis using ImageJ for science investigations to promote innovative investigation techniques.

This session also aims to demonstrate how schools can design STEM Edtech programs to suit their own context and build partnerships in their region to improve community STEM relations.

AITSL Standards Addressed:
1.2 Understand how students learn: Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of research into how students learn and the implications for teaching
