Transforming Pedagogy and Learning: using coherence makers to achieve deep learning and teaching

Many school leaders can point to patches of deep and effective learning in their schools. The challenge, however, is developing coherent approaches that make excellence an expectation in learning and pedagogy across an educational setting. In this seminar we will explore specific frameworks including the Learning Disposition Wheel (Jefferson and Anderson, 2021) and the Pedagogy Parachute (Jefferson and Anderson, 2021) that supports a holistic and coherent understanding of learning and teaching throughout the school. These coherence makers (scaffolds or frameworks) have been used in over 80 educational partnerships to support a deep understanding of learning, assessment and pedagogy and provide the foundations for transformative practice in schools. The work also draws on the research and application in Transforming Education and 4C Transformative Learning's partnerships with over 80 educational partnerships in early childhood, primary and secondary settings. This will be of interest to school leaders and other educators interested in enabling and embedding deep learning and excellent practice to teaching he learning.
